Police Seeking Help Finding Missing UNH Student

Morning news and notes for Amherst on Sept. 19.

ICYMI: Missing student. Authorities are seeking the help of the public in finding a UNH student from Windham who has been missing since Tuesday night. Police say Jonathan Zygmont, 19, of Windham, was last seen in Portsmouth near Prescott Park on Tuesday, Sept. 17, at about 8:30 p.m. Zygmont is described as a white male, 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighing 175 pounds. He was last seen wearing black shoes, khaki pants, and a brown sweatshirt with the word “Burton” on it in red lettering. He was carrying a black North Face backpack. Anyone with information on Zygmont’s whereabouts to call police at (603) 862-1427.

Orange Leaf delayed. One of Amherst's newest businesses is still awaiting opening after the owner said some delivery issues delayed things. Orange Leaf, a new serve-yourself frozen yogurt shop, was hoping to open Wednesday, Sept. 18, however now it is looking like opening day will actually be Friday. Keep your eyes on Patch and we'll let you know when the doors are officially open. Orange Leaf is located between Pets Life and GNC in the Meadowbrook Crossing Plaza on Route 101A.

Get hired in Amherst. The Amherst Public Safety Communications Center is seeking applicants for the position of full time emergency services dispatcher. The center provides an array of emergency communications services for police, fire, EMS and public works in the town of Amherst. Preference will be given to candidates with prior emergency service dispatching experience. Base pay range, dependent upon experience, is $18 to $21.92 per hour, in addition to an excellent benefits package.
