Road Update: Part Of Courthouse Road Closed Monday

The latest on the roadwork happening around Amherst.

Here is an update on Amherst roadwork from DPW Director Bruce Berry:

Courthouse & Thornton Ferry Rd I Update

Courthouse Road south of Thornton Ferry Road I will be closed starting Monday July 9th for approximately one week while Pennichuck replaces a portion of water main. This work must be completed prior to Continental coming in and doing planned drainage work in the same area. Because we will be changing the intersection grade (Thornton Ferry & Courthouse)  blending the two roads together in a more appropriate manner, all this work must come before we will put the final coat of asphalt on Thornton Ferry Road I.

Lyndeborough Road Update

Underdrain and culvert work is completed for now west of Carol Ann. For the next week, the pipe crew will be working between Amherst Street and Winding Hollow and delays will continue.

We anticipate the blasting company will finish on the knoll near Winding Hollow on Monday or Tuesday.

Possibly near the end of next week, they may start boxing out (removing base road material). I will know better by mid-week and will post advance warning prior to it happening.

Possibly around the week of the 23rd the road will be closed at Candlewood to replace the two pipes that cross at that location. Whenever we break ground there, the road will be closed for about five days.

Seaverns Bridge Road Update

Sloping and cleanup continues along the road shoulder after which the first layer of loam will be placed along the shoulder and where appropriate slope into lawns and driveways and not too long after that, hydro-seeding.

Now that the all driveways have their first coat, you will notice some have a one inch drop and others butt right up to the joint with an orange line painted, those will be trimmed (a tapered grinder will closely follow that line and the top coat will later blend in flush). In approximately another thirty days (after the edge cleanup and hydro-seeding) the top coat will go down, the clean up will continue and lastly the driveways will be finished.

Enjoy a dry weekend, and stay cool.
