Missing Teen Located in Connecticut

The 15-year-old reportedly ran away early Thursday morning.

Update, 6:10 a.m.: An Amherst teenager who had been missing since shortly before 1 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19, has been found in Connecticut, her mother said early Friday morning. Kim Dion said her daughter, Caitlyn Larocque had been found safe and family members were on their way to pick her up.

Original story: An Amherst teen who has apparently run away from home may be headed to New York or even continuing south toward Florida, her mom said Thursday evening.

Kim Dion, of Amherst, said her 15-year-old daughter, Caitlyn Larocque slipped out of the family's home just after 12:30 a.m. on Thursday, apparently taking off with a teenaged boy named Josh Peterson in silver Volvo.

Police in Amherst say the teen has been classified as a runaway, but could not provide any more information Thursday night.

Dion said Caitlyn left shortly after 12:30 a.m. Thursday, after having apparently spent the evening tracking Peterson's approach toward Amherst as she spoke with friends. Dion said Caitlyn's friends told her Thursday that Caitlyn had been counting down the hours until Peterson, who Caitlyn called her boyfriend in a YouTube video, arrived.

The video Caitlyn posted about a week ago is dedicated to the 18-year-old, also from Amherst, but who Dion said does not live at home. Dion said her daughter met Peterson while hanging out with friends in Milford. She said Peterson had last been known to be in New York and was en route to Amherst late Wednesday night.

Dion said the last call her daughter received before she disappeared was at 12:35, according to her phone records. She said she's tried calling Caitlyn numerous times, but the teen's phone rang through to voicemail early on and then was turned off and went straight to voicemail when she tried calling her daughter at 6:40 a.m.

"What we're hearing from her friends is that she's been planning this," Dion said.

The above poster is being shared across Facebook, as family and friends attempt to locate Caitlyn.

She is described as 5'2", 100 pounds, with bright red hair and blue eyes. She has her bottom lip pierced on both sides and one piercing in the top lip. She also has a brown mole on her upper lip. According to the poster, she was last seen wearing a bright green hooded sweatshirt, red and white pajama pants and a big black hat. She is a sophomore at Souhegan High School.

Anyone who has any information on Caitlyn's whereabouts is asked to please call Amherst Police at 673-4900.
