Shoplifting Stop Leads to Habitual Offender Charge
Christy Michaud of Amherst faces multiple charges after a shoplifting incident.

Christy Michaud, 22, of 464 Boston Post Road, Apartment #49, Amherst, was arrested June 26, charged with driving while being certified as a habitual offender, a class B felony; driving without giving proof, a class A misdemeanor; and a non-appearance in court bench warrant.
On June 26 at approximately 8:30 pm Nashua Police responded to a local department store for a reported shoplifting that occurred there. A suspect vehicle description was provided by store employees and subsequently located in the nearby area. The operator was identified as Christy Michaud.
In doing a background check, police discovered Michaud was prohibited from driving due to her status as a habitual offender, which led to her arrest on that and other charges unrelated to the shoplifting stop.

Lt. Michael Moushegian said Michaud was not currently facing any additional charges for the alleged shoplifting.
The charges against Michaud carry a sentence of up to five years in prison, exclusive of fines. She was held at the Nashua Police Department on $5000 cash bail.
