Souhegan Shuts Out John Stark During Special Game
Sabers football posts its first win of the 2013 season
On Friday night, the Souhegan varsity football team notched its first win of the season in a home game against John Stark High School.
The Sabers, during their Hope for Gus game, scored 35 points in a shut out against the Generals.
Friday night's game was a special event for 'Hope for Gus,' an organization that raises money and awareness about Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
Steve Dreher, a teacher at Souhegan High School, and his wife
Tonya, started The Hope for Gus Foundation in 2010 after their 4-year-old son, Gus was diagnosed with DMD. The disease causes muscle deterioration. As a result, boys with DMD lose the ability to walk in early adolescence and typically die in their late teens or early 20s.
