The Meat House Is Coming To Amherst
The neighborhood butcher and grocer will open at the former location of Olympia Sports.

Get ready to ‘meat’ the newest business making its way to Amherst this year.
The Meat House will be setting up shop into the vacant space in Meadowbrook Plaza left by Olympia Sports, which moved out earlier this year. Lisa Garvin, director of operations with the company, said that they plan to open the new store location in August.
The stores is “a modern revival of a neighborhood butcher and grocer,” with a wide selection of expertly butchered premium meats, poultry, veal, lamb, and pork, prepared proteins, fine cheeses, fresh produce, hearty breads, prepared side dishes, Boar's Head Deli products, delectable desserts and pastries, and other gourmet grocery items.

The business was founded by lifelong friends Justin Rosberg and Jason Parent, who opened their first location in Portsmouth, NH nine years ago. Garvin said that The Meat House pulls many of their products from the local community.
Franchise owner Allan Bald said that this will be the 32nd location nationally, including stores in Bedford and Portsmouth, and he is planning to open additional locations in New Hampshire and Vermont.

Bald said that the new Amherst location “made the most sense” and that he is looking forward to becoming involved in the local community. They have already planned to provide food and refreshments for the local little league, Boys and Girls Club, football league and other local events.
The Meat House will also be selling hamburger and hot dogs to benefit the Kimberly Cates Memorial Scholarship Fund at the 1st Annual Kimberly L. Cates Memorial Scholarship 5K Run/Walk on Thursday, July 12.
“Our philosophy is local,” said Bald. “We are local people, buy our products local when we can and want to be in your neighborhood.”
