The World Could Use More George Infanti's

Amherst Patch salutes the retiring selectman for his years of dedication and service.

Hundreds of thousands of people make up a state like New Hampshire, many people make up a town and a collection of dedicated individuals can make it a community.

It only takes one person to make it special.

I had the pleasure of attending a hosted by the Milford Rotary this week. Friends across town lines showed up to honor a lifetime of public service, dedication and good times.

They could all be seen reminiscing and laughing as they shared the many, many stories of this man’s contributions and the lives he has touched. It seemed as if there were too many of these to count, which is amazing and inspiring in both scope and substance.

I’ve only known George for a short time through my reporting, but his character and heart are not easily hidden. This is a man that has brought laughter to many and made a difference to many more.

Hearing of his endless list of accomplishments should be an inspiration to anybody who wonders if the world can be a better place. It can be, but we need more people like George Infanti in it.

There is a powerful joy in life that can only be unlocked through ones own heart, and the hearts of others. George’s is filled with purpose, love and laughter. This inner joy has been shared through the friendships he has made and the imprint he has had on Amherst, Milford and Wilton over the years.

Men like George are amazing to see as the world seems to be pushing away from one another towards something dark and lonely. People like him bring us together and shine a light that can reach beyond a neighborhood’s borders.

Through my reporting, I have been lucky to meet many wonderful people who have taken humanity to the next level in their lives and actions. This editor is proud to add Mr. Infanti to that list. These are the individuals that make others want to make a difference, including myself.

His actions serve as both an inspiration and a reminder that there is a collective force of good out there. It can be seen in the smiles of his friends, the positive changes in the community and the love in his family.

I salute George Infanti for not only for being a great representative of a community volunteer, but for also being a great representative of the human race. They don’t make many like George Infanti, but it would be nice if they did.
