Wooden Tents Will Protect Headstones During Repairs

Amherst Town Hall repair work is scheduled to begin at the end of the month.

The Town of Amherst is making sure headstones are not damaged during this summer's repairs to town hall.

The attic repairs are slated to begin at the end of July. DPW Director Bruce Berry, who also serves as the Cemetery Sexton, assigned DPW staff members Art Berube and Rick Hammond to construct wooden tents to cover the headstones in the Amherst Public Burial Ground.

The tents are made of plywood and two by fours and will stay in place until the attic project is complete.
