Workshop to Teach Conservation Easement Basics

December events will provide real estate professionals with both the benefits, effects of easements.

Conservation easements impact land use rights and are important for every real estate agent to understand when brokering the buying and selling of property. Much of New Hampshire’s land is conserved for future generations through conservation easements and many real estate professionals in the state must navigate these protective covenants.

Two workshops are scheduled in December to provide real estate professionals information on conservation easements, including what they are, the benefits of easements to landowners and the community, the effects of conservation easements on real estate transactions, and more. Real estate professionals can choose from workshops scheduled on Dec. 1, 2015, from 8:30 a.m. to noon in Peterborough, and Dec. 3, from 1 to 4:30 p.m. in Moultonborough.

Karen Bennett, forestry specialist with UNH Cooperative Extension, said in a press statement, “We recognize that conservation easements can be tricky to maneuver during real estate transactions. These workshops will provide valuable insight from an instructor with many years of experience working with conservation easements in New Hampshire.”
