Yahoo Buys Tumblr for $1.1 Billion

5 Things You Need to Know Today:
1. In business news...Yahoo has bought Tumblr, a microblogging platform popular with the young folk, for a cool $1.1 billion. Yahoo says they will "not screw it up" like previous acquisitions, and promises the site will be "independently operated as a separate business."
2. Pay for what you want. Sen. John McCain has a bill that would "use regulatory incentives to encourage programmers and distributors to unbundle their channels and offer a la carte programming." Paying for only the channels wanted would be glorious, but let's see if the bill can survive the cable lobby.
3. Patch Fact: Spawn is a word that refers to the eggs of fishes, mollusks, amphibians and other animals. Usually such eggs are produced in great numbers because many are eaten by aquatic animals.

4. The One Fund. The New Hampshire State Police Department is selling "Boston Strong" t-shirts to raise money for The One Fund, which will assist the families of victims from the Boston Marathon attacks. All proceeds will go to the fund, and you can find the shirts in their online store.
