Join us to discuss this inspiring and important book: "This is An Uprising: How Nonviolent Revolt Is Shaping the Twenty-First Century" by Mark Engler and Paul Engler. We'll meet on Zoom for six sessions, Thursdays January 8 & 22, February 5 & 19, March 5 & 19, 7-8:30pm.

About the book: From protests around climate change and immigrant rights, to Occupy, the Arab Spring, and #BlackLivesMatter, a new generation is unleashing strategic nonviolent action to shape public debate and force political change. In this book, learn about the hidden art behind such outbursts of protest, examining core principles that have been used to spark and guide moments of transformative unrest. With incisive insights from contemporary activists, as well as fresh revelations about the work of groundbreaking figures, the Englers show how people with few resources and little conventional influence are engineering the upheavals that are reshaping contemporary politics. Let's understand this critical phenomenon and harness its power to create lasting change.

Facilitated by NH Peace Action members. The facilitators will help to create space for a safe and deep discussion of the issues raised in the book and will make sure everyone gets a chance to share. Our conversations will be shaped by all who attend. The goal of our book study is to expand our knowledge and understanding of topics related to peace and to have a space where members can connect with each other, learn and build community.

There is a minimal $10 charge to join this group, which will be limited in size to 12 participants. As with all NH Peace Action Events, if cost is a barrier, please email doreen@nhpeaceaction.org. Once you have purchased your ticket, you will receive the Zoom.

You also need to buy the book for yourself. Note that since it is a few years old, finding used copies shouldn't be hard. As of this posting, thriftbooks, biblio and ebay have multiple copies.

Gibson's Bookstore in Concord, Water Street Bookstore in Exeter, Toadstool Bookshops in Keene and Peterborough, and MainStreet BookEnds in Warner will be more than happy to order it for you. Their websites all say ships within 1-5 days.
