Concord Sex Offender Molested Student: Police

Concord police said John Lessor, a registered sex offender, was arrested again after molesting a student.

CONCORD, NH -- A Concord sex offender was arrested Wednesday after police said he molested a local student on multiple occasions. John Lessor (pictured), 64, was charged with aggravated sexual assault, a felony. He was held in custody pending an arraignment Thursday in Merrimack County Superior Court.

Lessor recently befriended the student, according to Concord Police Lieutenant Sean Ford. Officers opened an investigation into Lessor last week after receiving information from Merrimack Valley School District officials, Ford said.

"School administrators had been alerted by community members that Mr. Lessor was spending a lot of time with a young child ... to whom he was not related," Ford said in a statement. "Some of this time was unsupervised."

Ford added, "Detectives determined that Mr. Lessor had sexually assaulted the victim over a period of time and that the assaults were continuing."

Police credited the citizens for coming forward with information.

"Due to their vigilance a dangerous person is now in custody," Ford said.

Additional charges against Lessor are possible, police said.

In 1997, Lessor was convicted of sexually a child under the age of 13 in Hillsborough County. He is required to register as a sex offender with police per the terms of his conviction.
