Firefighters From Around The Capital Region Battle A 2-Alarm Brush Fire In Epsom
Firefighters spent more than 3 hours extinguishing a brush fire near Goboro Road in Epsom on Sunday afternoon.
EPSOM, NH — Firefighters from Epsom and several other communities spent about two hours extinguishing a brush fire on Sunday afternoon.
Around 1:45 p.m., Capital Region Fire Dispatch requested firefighters from Epsom to head to the intersection of Range Road and New Orchard Road for a smoke investigation. The smoke was reportedly seen from Oak Hill. An Epsom forestry unit checked the area but did not find “anything obvious, yet,” according to a fire commander. They also received reports of smoke from Dover Road and the Epsom traffic circle. An Epsom tanker then checked Dover Road.
After searching several parts of town, firefighters headed to the area around Goboro Road, near Sherburne Hill Road, around 2 p.m. and found the fire. However, they had difficulty gaining immediate access to the area. The fire commander requested more Epsom firefighters to the scene and said, due to the access issues, mutual aid would be requested. They estimated the burn area to be around 50 feet by 50 feet.
