Hiker From Braintree, Massachusetts, Assisted Off NH’s Mount Pierce After Falling
Meghan Mason slipped and fell between 50 and 100 feet near a scenic outlook on Saturday afternoon.

BEAN’S GRANT, NH — A hiker from Braintree, Massachusetts, was assisted off Mount Pierce on Saturday afternoon after falling from an overlook.
Around 3:30 p.m., New Hampshire Fish and Game Department conservation officers were told about a hiker who slipped and fell about 50 to 100 feet on the mountain near a scenic overlook. Conservation officers arrived at the trailhead and began hiking up the mountain to assess the situation. When they came to the reported area, they learned Meghan Mason of Braintree, MA, was about a half mile up the Crawford Path and on a spur trail, Christopher McKee, a conservation officer, said.
“Due to her precarious location and rugged terrain, rescuers from the Mountain Rescue Service, Androscoggin Valley Search and Rescue Team, and Twin Mountain Fire and Rescue were called to assist,” he said. “Volunteers were able to carry Mason down to the trailhead and an awaiting Twin Mountain Ambulance, arriving at 7:10 p.m.”

EMTs took her to Littleton Regional Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, McKee said.
McKee said the department urged hikers to be prepared and to use caution while hiking. Packing essential items, even on a day hike, “is imperative,” he said.
