NH Man's 2,528-Pound Pumpkin Sets US Record
New Hampshire farmer Steve Geddes set the record for the heaviest pumpkin ever recorded in the US during a weigh off at the Deerfield Fair.

DEERFIELD, NH -- It's a Great Pumpkin indeed -- and officially the heaviest pumpkin ever recorded in United States history. Boscawen farmer Steve Geddes' record-setting pumpkin weighed in at 2,528 pounds during the Deerfield Fair last week. Geddes won the fair's annual Super Pumpkin/Squash Weigh Off.
"I knew it would be a state record and possibly a U.S. record," Geddes told the Concord Monitor. "There is an addictive side just watching it grow."
Geddes' pumpkin set the record for the heaviest pumpkin in recorded North American history. The world record holder is Belgium's Mathias Willemijns, who drew a 2,625-pound pumpkin in 2006.
