Police, DEA To Hold Drug Take-Back Day

Local police stations are joining the DEA in hosting drug drop-off locations in multiple communities throughout New Hampshire.

CONCORD, NH — During the annual Drug Take-Back event taking place Saturday, residents will have a chance to get rid of their unused, expired or unwanted medications in a safe way. At various locations, local police and members of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration will be collecting unwanted prescription medication, anonymously and no questions asked.

The program aims to prevent prescription drug abuse. All unwanted medications will be safely disposed of. At most of the locations, no needles or liquids are allowed to be dropped off — only pills and patches. The following drop-off locations will be in effect from 10 a.m. to 2 pm.. on Saturday, April 27:

Amherst Police Department will offer a drop-off location in the police station main lobby, at 175 Amherst St.

Bedford's drop-off location is at the police station, at 55 Constitution Dr.

In Bow, the drop-off location is the police station at 7 Knox Road.

In Concord, the Merrimack County Sheriff's Office will be offering a drop-off location at Sam's Club, located at 304 Sheep Davis Road. A drop-off location will also be offered by the Concord Police Department at 35 Green Court.

Exeter Police Department, at 20 Court St., is also hosting a drop-off location.

Goffstown Police Department will offer a drop-off location at 326 Mast Road. Call police detective Thomas Defosses at 603-497-4858 for more information.

In Hampton, there is a 24/7 drug disposal dropoff at the police station, 100 Brown Ave.

Hooksett Police Department will have drop-off at the police station, 15 Legends Dr.

In Londonderry, police will accept unwanted legal or illegal drugs, no questions asked, at the police station community room located through the main lobby. Unlike other departments, Londonderry police will be accepting syringes, used or otherwise, but no liquids or gels. A sharps disposal container will be on site. Those who are unsure about the handling of the sharps may contact police or the poison control center before handling. Questions can be directed Londonderry police at 603-432-1118.

In Manchester, drop-off locations include the Elliot Pharmacy at River's Edge at 175 Queen City Ave., New Hampshire National Guard Armory at 771 Canal St. and Walmart at 725 Gold St. The Drug Take-Back event will coincide with the annual Manchester Shred-A-Thon, in which residents will be able to safely shred old confidential documents. The Shred-A-Thon will take place at Manchester Police Headquarters, 405 Valley St. A touch-a-truck event will also take place.

Merrimack Police Department will offer a drop-off location at 31 Baboosic Lake Road.

In Milford, a drop-off location will be offered at the police station at 19 Garden St.

Nashua Police Department, 9 Stadium Dr., located behind Conway Ice Arena. More information at www.nashuapd.com.

Newington's drop-off location is in the police station, 71 Fox Point Road.

In Portsmouth, the drop-off is at the police station, at 3 Junkins Ave.

In Salem, residents may return their drugs at the police station, at 9 Veterans' Memorial Parkway.

Windham Police Department will have drop-offs in the main lobby , at 4 Fellows Road, Windham.
