Second-Degree Assaulter, Minimum-Security Inmate Flees Concord Transitional Work Center: NH Corrections

CONCORD, NH — The New Hampshire Department of Corrections is asking for the public’s help in finding a minimum-security inmate placed on escape status on Saturday night.

David Paul Hamilton, 27, was last seen at Concord’s Calvary Cemetery, not from the North End transitional unit, getting into a full-size black pickup truck around 9:45 p.m. The pickup, officials said, had a cap and aftermarket exhaust. Hamilton was placed on escape status at 11:30 p.m.

Hamilton is white, about 5 feet, 7 inches tall, and weighs around 150 pounds. He has brown eyes, a shaved head, a beard, and numerous tattoos on his face and both arms. Hamilton was last seen wearing a dark gray sweatshirt, light gray sweatpants, black boots, and a black skull cap.

According to superior court records, Hamilton was accused of possessing a stolen firearm in July 2016 in Manchester. He was indicted in March 2018. A few months later, Hamilton reached a plea and received a one-year mandatory sentence, maximum of two years, all suspended for three years, along with a $620 fine. The fine was to be paid out of cash “seized from (defendant) at the time of (the) arrest.”

In Manchester in July 2022, he was arrested on first-degree assault, second-degree assault, conduct after an accident with death or injury, cruelty to animals, and disobeying an officer. In November 2022, Hamilton pleaded guilty to three second-degree assault-deadly weapon and bodily injury charges and received two two-and-a-half-to-five-year sentences, served concurrently, and one three-and-a-half-to-seven-year sentence, suspended for 10 years. All the other charges were nolle prossed. In February 2024, Hamilton requested an amended sentence but it was denied a month later. He received work release in July 2024.

The state also sought to claim forfeiture of $16,742 from Hamilton in September 2022. The case was dismissed in March 2023.

Hamilton’s minimum custody release date was July 1, 2027, with a maximum date of Jan. 1, 2030.
