Dad Kills Son, Commits Suicide at YWCA in Manchester

A father and son were found dead in a Manchester YWCA after a murder-suicide Sunday, Aug. 11.

Muni Savyon, 54, of Manchester shot his son Joshua Savyon, 9, of Amherst in front of a counselor before turning the gun on himself, according to the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office and Manchester Police.

The New Hampshire Attorney General and Manchester Police are currently investigating the tragic shooting that occurred in the building at 10:11 a.m.

The investigation so far reveals that Muni Savyon arrived at the YWCA at 9:30 a.m. for a supervised visit with his son, Joshua, police said. An adult male counselor was also present in the room with Muni and Joshua Savyon for their one-hour visitation.

Partway through the visitation, Muni Savyon took out a handgun and shot his son several times, killing him, according to the AG update on the case. Muni Savyon then turned the gun on himself and killed himself.

The counselor managed to escape the room unharmed. Muni and Joshua were found dead on the second floor.

Police report that autopsies will be conducted tomorrow on Muni and Joshua Savyon to determine their exact cause and manner of death.

Manchester Police Detectives said that they have been able to determine that Muni Savyon has been separated from his son’s mother for several years. The relationship has been contentious at times and included threats by Muni Savyon to kill himself, his son’s mother and their son.
