COLEBROOK, NH – Saturday, March 7, 2020 Glenn M. McCabe, 60 of Derry, NH according to NH Fish and Game was operating a snowmachine when it was involved in a collision. McCabe told investigators he was traveling through a field when suddenly the machine became airborne and landed on a wooden post. MCabe was ejected from the snowmachine and thrown into the air before hitting the snow covered ground head first.

According to NH Fish and Game After the collision, the operator and other fellow riders were able to travel a short distance before the snowmachine was no longer operable. The snowmachine sustained major damage in the incident. Ultimately, the operator was transported to Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook by a passerby in a personal vehicle for medical evaluation and treatment. After being notified of the collision, Conservation Officer’s from the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department responded to the both the hospital and scene to investigate.

Based on information gathered at the scene of the collision and through interviews with the operator and witnesses, it appears that the collision was the result of traveling at a speed greater than reasonable and prudent under existing trail conditions. The operator did have over 20 years of riding experience; however, he had never been on that particular trail prior to the collision. The operator was wearing appropriate safety gear and equipment for the conditions. Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the collision.
