Gov. Hassan Awards Job Training Grant to Londonderry Firm

As part of her efforts to help New Hampshire workers develop the skills and innovative thinking needed for jobs in the 21st century economy, Governor Maggie Hassan announced today that five New Hampshire companies have been awarded job training grants to help them train 171 workers in new skills.

The job training grants total $144,973.50, and the companies contributed matching funds to bring the total amount for training workers to $289,947.

“I am proud to announce another round of important grants to help prepare workers for good jobs at New Hampshire’s growing businesses,” said Governor Hassan. “New Hampshire’s job training fund is a critical resource that has provided important skills to thousands of workers. In order to support the business community’s efforts tocreate good jobs and keep New Hampshire’s economy moving forward, we must continue to focus on strengthening our workforce pipeline through job training and higher education.”

• Intelitek Inc. of Manchester received a grant of up to $5,950 for five employees to receive Systematic Plant Layout training from the New Hampshire Manufacturing Extension Partnership (NHMEP).
• A grant of $20,040 was awarded to L-3 Warrior Systems – Insight Technologies in Londonderry for 12 employees to receive Six Sigma Green Belt training from Manchester Community College.
• Merrimack’s Pennichuck Water received a Job Training Fund grant of $8,640 for training 26 employees in a variety of programs, including Customer Service Specialist, Strength Finders Facilitation, Presentation, Employment Law, Labor Law, Non-Defensive Dialogue, and Assessing Responsibilities & Delegating, at the New Hampshire Technology Institute, University of New Hampshire, and NashuaCommunity College.
• Medtronic Advanced Energy of Portsmouth received a grant of up to $47,938.50 for eight training providers to train 90 employees in Geometric Dimensioning, Root Cause Analysis, Statistical Process Control, Design Experiments, Configuration Management, Technical Writing, Intermediate Microsoft Excel & Word, Handling Conflict & Confrontation, Thinking Outside the Cubicle, and Plastics.
• New England Wire Technologies of Lisbon received a grant of $62,405 for marketing, soft skills, and IT training for 38 employees at multiple training providers.

The Job Training Fund has awarded $6,782,294.89 in grants since October 2007, with employers contributing $9,415,296.36 for a total of $16,197,591.25 in new training for 19,980 New Hampshire workers.
