LONDONDERRY, NH — Firefighters previously extinguished basement fire in a Pillsbury Road house which had spread throughout the house.

The homeowner donated the use of the existing structure to the Londonderry Fire Department for multiple hands-on training exercises.

Crews from several towns came together to learn, teach, and have realistic scenarios they will face when responding to fires. Tanker trucks set up water supply, while a ladder truck was set up to protect adjacent structures.

Firefighters participated in training exercises which were set up, allowing them to experience heavy smoke, and intense heat. The training includes search and rescue where crews have near zero visibility searching for people while the fire intensifies.

As the training proceeded into late afternoon the structure was allowed to become fully engulfed in fire. After the fire was extinguished fire investigators were able to do training which will help them investigate future fires.
