RebuildNH: Misguided Reps Betray New Hampshire’s Parents and Children

EAST DERRY, NH — In a shocking nod to the radical left, Democrats and 14 misguided Republicans voted to kill New Hampshire’s Parents’ Bill of Rights, protecting educators who keep secrets from parents and intentionally contradict and pervert children’s upbringing.

The 171-176 vote in the N.H. House to kill HB 1431, which had already passed 14-10 in the Senate, opposes the opinion of 85 percent of New Englanders according to a Parental Rights Foundation survey. In the survey, results of which are expected next week, respondents agreed that, “In general, parents have the constitutional right to make decisions for their children without government interference unless there is proof of abuse or neglect.”

“The people who voted to defend groomers, who are intentionally corrupting the innocent minds of our children, have betrayed every family in the state and defied their oath of office to defend the Constitution, under God,” said Andrew J. Manuse, chairman of RebuildNH. “Families are the fundamental building block of our civil society. Every time we do not stand up to protect parent’s rights as paramount, we are allowing the State to undermine our fundamental liberty.”

Last week, the governor tweeted his intent to veto the Parents’ Bill of Rights. With today’s vote, the governor’s political supporters in the House have attempted to give him cover. The bill’s defeat comes just days after Gov. Chris Sununu vetoed HB 1131, the bill that would have prohibited masking children in schools. That action itself was an affront on parents and the way they choose to raise their children.

“The people of New Hampshire cannot forget that within one week, Gov. Sununu has acted twice against parental rights and in favor of state power over our most precious population,” said JR Hoell, treasurer of RebuildNH. “Unfortunately, we see a pattern of elected officials choosing entrenched state power over parents, children, and families.”

With the filing period for state offices open only from June 1 to June 10, it is time right now for concerned citizens who care about families to consider becoming candidates for office.

“Unfortunately, too many Republicans fell for the lies of the extreme left,” said Rep. Melissa Blasek (R-Merrimack), executive director of RebuildNH. “We need more elected officials who understand that defending the rights of parents must be the top priority for New Hampshire right now, particularly following two years of unprecedented state power.
