NH Budget Deadlines Looming

Legislative week: With the House voting down the major casino gambling bill, eyes turn to the budget.

The House meets in session Wednesday, May 29, at 1 p.m. The Senate's next session day is May 30 at 1 p.m. 

Governor Hassan's proclamation declares Thursday, May 30, as Memorial Day in the state. Flags will be lowered to half-staff all day on May 30. At 11 a.m. on Thursday, the governor will be speaking at the Memorial Day ceremony at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.

Budget deadlines looming. The Senate Finance Committee is scheduled to meet at 1 p.m. today, May 28, for executive session on pending legislation. The big one, of course, is House Bill 1. There's now less than a month before legislative deadlines to conclude work and negotiations on the two-year budget.

Keno time? The Senate on Thursday will see a bill to study implementing Keno in New Hampshire. House Bill 520 has a favorable committee recommendation.

Certain Ramp Tolls. The House Public Works and Highways Committee is scheduled to continue its executive session on Senate Bill 3, which proposes eliminating tolls at the Exit 12 ramps – northbound and southbound – on the Everett Turnpike in Merrimack. The committee meets in Legislative Office Building Room 201 at 11 a.m.
