Rainy Ceremony Kicks Off Holiday Season
Dozens came to the Town Commons on Sunday for food, family, friends and fun.
A rainy holiday ceremony at the Town Commons on Sunday saw dozens of residents of all ages crowd near the stage to celebrate the season with carols, food, friends and family.
Despite being dubbed a tree lighting ceremony, the big tree across the street wasn't lit last night due to safety concerns for the children being near the road. Many of those children were on the stage singing during the Sunday afteroon event.
Also arriving in fashion on a Londonderry fire engine were Santa and Mrs. Claus, who both greeted kids at a castle set up close to the stage.

About 100 girls packed the stage to sing the carols, with most of the crowd clearing out after they got a chance to meet Jolly Old St. Nicholas.
