Report of Gun at School Leads to Police Response

The report turned out to be unfounded.

Derry Police responded to Pinkerton Academy on Tuesday for a report of a student who may have been in possession of a gun, a report that turned out to be unfounded.

Police responded to the school at 1:51 p.m. and were able to identify the student, who was not in possession of a firearm. Further investigation determined that the information that prompted the response was incorrect, there was no weapon and there was no threat to the safety of students and staff at the school.

No charges are expected to be filed, and the investigation has been closed.
