Tree-Lighting Ceremony to Ring in Holiday

Over 20 trees are on display in the Town Commons this season.

A tree lighting ceremony this weekend will announce the arrival of the holiday season while giving back to the community.

Over 20 trees are currently on display in the Town Commons, which were set up on Nov. 25 according to Town Manager Margo Lapietro. The ceremony will take place on Dec. 2 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The Londonderry Rotary Club is running the event, and the organization is asking community organizations to sponsor trees.

Several of the trees are already decked out, and decorating will continue throughout the week.

According to Caron Renik of the Rotary Club, hot cider, coffee, cocoa and refreshments will be served at the Sunday event. Holiday music and caroling will also take place, provided by Londonderry Girl Scouts and the Londonderry Christian Church band.

Non-perishable food items will also be collected for local charities.
