5 Things: Cash Still Safer Than Credit

From the Sopranos to the Pope, today's 5 Things is like a smorgasbord of information for your brain.

1. Reason No. 782 For Switching Back to Cash: With all this talk about identity theft and online insecurities, it's as good a time as any to be careful with your credit card. Case in point: This story about a $400,000 Subway fast food restaurant hack job, in which thousands of credit cards were used to pay for gift cards subsequently sold on eBay. Nothing about this story sits well with us.

2. PopeFrancis.com: It's the gift that keeps on giving, well, in spiritual gifts, perhaps, for the Chicago lawyer who owns that particular domain name. Chris Connors, 39, bought the domain a few years ago on GoDaddy.com, hoping that in his lifetime a pope might choose the name Francis – including Cardinal Francis George or Chicago. Connors wants to give the new Pope Francis first dibs on the domain, gratis. "I told him that if Pope Francis wants it, he's got it. Especially in this age with social media, it might be helpful for him if he's going to use it. I'd like to see it used," Connors said in this Chicago Tribune story.

3. Servers Getting Served at Fody's: This is your warm fuzzy for the day. If you work in the hospitality industry, tonight's a good night to take off and head (every Monday) for all you who live to serve. Tell them Nashua Patch sent you.

4. Dinner with Vito: If you were a "Sopranos" fan then you will want to head over to The Arena Sportsbar this Friday or Saturday, March 22 and 23, to meet actor Joe Gannascoli, aka Vito, who will be cooking up a storm. Details and menu here.

5. March 19 is Certified Nurses Day: Get ready to thank a nurse, the men and women who do a lot of the heavy lifting when it comes to patient care, both literally and figuratively. Tomorrow is designated Certified Nurses Day by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Now you know.
