America's Top Young Scientist Urges Others to 'Go For It'

Deepika Kurup was named America's Top Young Scientist of 2012. She returned to her alma mater to encourage others.

There's still time for your favorite sciencey kid to be in the running for a $25,000 Discovery Education 3M America's Top Scientist award.

Deepika Kurup, a Nashua High School South freshman, won the 2012 honors and recently returned to her middle school alma mater of Fairgrounds Middle School to encourage other students to go for it.

Deepika's is working on a solar water purification system that efficiently turns dirty drinking water into safe drinking water.
