Contractor Charged in Alleged Jewelry Theft

Police allege Shawn Cornell stole jewelry from a customer's home.

A contractor is accused of stealing jewelry from a home he was doing work at in May of 2011.

Shawn Cornell, 32, of 672 Central St., Franklin, was arrested March 18 by Nashua Police, charged with one count theft by unauthorized taking, a class A felony, in connection with the May 10, 2011 residential theft.

On that date, police responded to a Nashua residence for the report of a theft during which specific articles of jewelry were missing from the residence.
A subsequent investigation conducted by the Nashua Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division determined Shawn Cornell was responsible for the theft, and that Cornell was contracted to do work in the residence at the time of the alleged theft.

A class A felony is punishable by up to 15 years imprisonment exclusive of fines. Shawn Cornell was released on $550 cash/$10,000 personal recognizance bail pending his arraignment in the 9th Circuit Nashua District Division Court.
