Repeat 'Habitual Offender' Faces Felony Charges

Robert Rogers should not have been driving when he struck a woman following an argument.

Robert Rogers, 52, of Nashua was arrested May 22. He faces felony domestic ab abuse charges, as well as felony charges for driving under a habitual offender status.

Rogers was formally charged with: domestic violence/reckless conduct, a class B felony; conduct after an accident, a class B felony; habitual offender, a class B felony; and resisting detention, a class A misdemeanor.

On May 21, 2013 at approximately 7:47 p.m. Officers responded to Denton Street for the report of a domestic dispute and a motor vehicle accident. Upon further investigation it was determined that Rogers had been engaged in an argument with a woman he is acquainted with and in the course of a dispute, reportedly struck the woman with his 1998 Jeep Cherokee. The woman's injuries were not life threatening, police said.

Detectives were notified of this incident and conducted an additional investigation. It was determined Rogers was operating a motor vehicle while being deemed a habitual offender, also a felony. During the arrest Roger’s resisted, and was charged with resisting arrest. He was sprayed with pepper spray by police, according to Lt. Michael Moushegian.

A class B felony is punishable by up to seven years imprisonment (each count), exclusive of fines. A class A Misdemeanor is punishable by up to one year imprisonment exclusive of fines. Rogers refused bail and is being held at the Nashua Police Department pending an upcoming arraignment at the 9th Circuit Nashua District Division Court on May 23, 2013.
