Man Charged After Throwing Cell Phone, Self, on Car

Watertown Mass. Police arrested Matthew Carrier after an off-duty police officer intervened in a domestic.

Watertown, Mass., Police arrested Matthew D. Carrier, 22, of 15 Edmatteric Dr., Nashua, after he allegedly broke a woman's car window and then hung on the hood of her car as she tried to drive away from a local fruit and vegetable market.

Police say on March 14 a domestic dispute started at about 12:20 p.m. at Russo's on Pleasant Street in Watertown. Carrier allegedly attacked a female in the parking lot, said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn.

"[Matthew Carrier] threw a cell phone at her vehicle and shattered the rear window," Lawn said.

Carrier then reportedly jumped on the hood of the woman's car, but an off-duty police officer who was in the area stopped him, Lawn said. Carrier went to a local hospital for treatment before being arrested, Lawn said.

Carrier was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and reckless behavior creating risk for bodily injury, Lawn said.
