NASHUA, NH — Faulty electrical wiring caused a fire in Nashua at a Cross Street apartment building Wednesday night, according to fire officials. The fire broke out in a second floor wall in a bedroom at about 10 p.m,., according to Nashua Deputy fire Chief George Walker.

"Crews quickly opened up the wall and discover(ed) a small fire burning in a partition," Walker said in a statement. "Firefighters extinguished the fire with a pressurized extinguisher and checked for extension above and below the second floor."

Walker said electrical heat tape used to protect pipes from freezing malfunctioned and started the fire. Damage to the residence was "minor." No one was hurt.
