Nashua Firefighter Injured In Gilson Road Blaze

Nashua firefighters extinguished a house fire on Gilson Road amid bitterly cold temperatures; several were displaced.

NASHUA, NH — A Nashua firefighter was injured battling a blaze on Gilson Road Tuesday that displaced several people. The fire broke out at about 8:30 a.m. amid bitterly cold and icy conditions. Firefighters encountered "heavy" flames, according to Nashua Deputy fire Chief Karl Gerhard. One firefighter who slipped and suffered an upper extremity injury was hospitalized, according to Gerhard.

The fire started on the first floor of the Cape-style home and extended to the second floor. Firefighters knocked the flames down in about a half-hour.

"The home is uninhabitable due to fire, smoke, and water damage," Gerhard said in a statement. "Several tenants were displaced (exact number still be determined) and it was still being determined if any assistance would be required for their housing."
