Nashua Man In Police Chase Broke Into Home: Cops

Police said Cornelius Stanley, of Nashua, led a Litchfield police officer on a chase.

LITCHFIELD, NH — A Nashua convict was arrested Tuesday after police said he led an officer on a chase then broke into a home in a failed escape attempt. Cornelius Stanley, 45, of Nashua, was eventually arrested and charged with a host of crimes.

The incident happened in Litchfield Tuesday at about 12:30 a.m. An officer on patrol attempted to stop Stanley as he drove a white Chevrolet Silverado on Derry Road because Stanley was allegedly speeding. Stanley sped up and fled the officer, police said. He then ditched his vehicle in the driveway of a Rotterdam Drive residence and tried to break into a window, police said. A frightened resident who was home at the time contacted police after hearing the commotion, police said.

Officers found Stanley "hanging halfway out of a broken window" and promptly arrested him, police said in a statement.
