NH Moose Hunt Lottery Opens
New Hampshire's moose hunt lottery application period is open January until May; the drawing is in June. Fifty permits were issued in 2017.

CONCORD, NH — New Hampshire's moose hunt lottery opened this week and residents have about a one in 87 chance of winning a hunting permit, officials said. The lottery is the only way to obtain a moose-hunting permit in New Hampshire. Moose hunting season is October 20-28. The exact number of permits that will be award has not been determined yet.
In 2017, 51 moose-hunting permits were issued based on 6,850 applicants.
The 2018 application period is open until May 25. The drawing, performed by a computer, will be held June 15 at the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department in Concord.

The number of permits issued each year is capped based on past hunting license sales. The 2018 figure is expected to be determined in the spring.
New Hampshire's moose population is estimated at 3,300.
