Another Mexican Restaurant Coming to Portsmouth?

The former Mattress Giant store in Durgin Square will soon become a new Qdoba Mexican restaurant.

Randal Boughton, the general contractor for Federal Construction Corp., said Monday morning the retail space at 1600 Woodbury Ave. will feature the new Mexican fast food restaurant in about six months and two other retail spaces
The building's owner, DSQ Holdings, LLC, in care of the Wilder Companies, has received a building permit from the city building inspector's office and is in the process of doing more than $57,000 of renovation work.

With plenty of free parking and great visibility, Boughton said the owners are confident the new Mexican eatery and two other retail businesses will do well there.

Besides Qdoba, the city has seen several other Mexican restaurants open this year including Vida Cantina and Me and Ole's Burritos and Beer. The Cemita Shack hopes to open at the end of August and the El Rodeo Mexican restaurant will open soon near the Fox Run Mall in Newington.
