Date of birth: 7/11/74

Background/Education: I started my first business while in high school and lived on my own at 16. I made a choice to continue to grow my business instead of attending college. I have taken various courses and seminars for personal and professional enrichment at community colleges and Ivy League universities and I continue to do so.

Experience/Occupation:

Prior elected offices: This is the first time I have run for an elected public office. I am and have been a board member and/or advisor to various non-profit historical societies, charities, schools, and professional associations. I have also been involved in public policy by testifying for and interacting with legislators at the state and federal level in an attempt to create a more just, open, free, and prosperous society for all people.

Personal: I am 38 years old and I live in North Hampton. I am the oldest of six children and my parents taught me the values of honesty, integrity, service, and hard work. I am a father of four awesome children. My three youngest attend North Hampton School where my oldest graduated last June. I am an entrepreneur and a real estate developer and investor. My current company designs and manufactures environmentally sound floor coating systems which cure with UV light. In the past, I have started, grown, and sold companies which provided Internet access, information security and auditing, manufacturing parts for antique cars, and electronic medical records hosting.

Priorities for New Hampshire and your view of the State House  role in state government: Government spending must be kept in check. I will always oppose and fight against any sales or income tax. I will also work to lower all other taxes and fees whenever possible. By expanding the number of people working and by helping facilitate a healthy business climate, we can increase revenues overall and decrease the amount paid by any individual in various taxes and fees.

By allowing towns and cities to keep a portion of the meals and rooms tax or potentially collect it directly, we can help offset property taxes and keep this money in the local community where it was earned and where the expenses it is intended to cover for cover for police, fire, roads, etc. are actually incurred. Keeping spending levels low will ensure we maintain the New Hampshire advantage to encourage the relocation of existing companies to NH which will create new jobs here and encourage the expansion of existing NH companies in NH which will create new jobs. We also need to ensure NH will remain an attractive place for people to start new companies. Without successful and thriving employers, there will be no new jobs.

I will do everything possible to ensure our state government creates a regulatory environment which preserves and encourages the availability of good jobs, low taxes, low unemployment, a clean natural environment, unparalleled personal freedoms, and a high quality education available to and affordable for all. The house is responsible for legislation affecting all of our lives including the creation of the state budget.

It is important that the elected representatives of the people have the ability to allocate scarce funds wisely. It is also essential that they not spend money on wasteful programs nor should they spend money which the state doesn’t have. Realistic budget estimates are essential and a careful approach to budget forecasting is necessary to ensure a balanced budget. State representatives must represent all of their constituents and always be available to listen to their needs and concerns.

My phone number is 397-3700 and I will always be available and willing to speak about any issues of concern to anyone in my district and to help in any way possible. The house is the body of the people and it should represent the will of the people and their priorities and goals. With the third largest representative body in the English speaking world, our citizens certainly have a unique way to be heard and I look forward to being their voice in Concord.

Why are you running?  I am running for office because I am tired of politicians of both major parties who think they know better than I do how I should live my life and how my friends should live theirs. I believe in freedom and equality and my core philosophical belief is that the only legitimate role of government is to protect our rights. I want our state government to reduce spending, lower taxes, and stop telling people how to live their lives. Free people are entitled to keep the fruits of their labor, do as they wish with their property, make their own choices about how they care for and feed their own bodies, raise and educate their children as they see fit, and do as they wish with their time, energy, and talents.
