City Gears Up for Spooky Halloween

Trick or treating, Portsmouth Halloween Parade and Halloween family dance ready to go.

Halloween may be two weeks away, but the city is already well on its way to creating a howling good time.

Portsmouth officials announced that trick or treating will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 30 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and barring anything really weird like the snowtober winter storm that blanketed the city in white, it should go off without a hitch.

Also new this year is the 18th annual Halloween Costume Monster Mash Family Dance will be held in the new Connie Bean Center next to the Portsmouth Middle School. Last year's dance was held in the former Connie Bean Center on Daniel Street for the last time. The Portsmouth Recreation Department always does a great job of providing plenty of fun entertainment for goblins and ghouls of all ages.
