City Man Charged with Burglary

The following information was provided by the Portsmouth Police log. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

The following is an excerpt from the Portsmouth Police log from Monday, Dec. 23 and Tuesday, Dec. 24.

Monday:

  • At 8:29 a.m., police reported the theft of $3,000 to $4,000 in construction wire from a construction site on West Road.
  • At 8:56 a.m., police reported the theft of some tools valued at $1,000 from a construction site on Dennett Street.
  • At 1:26 p.m., police arrested a Portsmouth man for burglary and other changes on Middle Street. Nicholas Andrew Mecum, 35, no fixed address, Apt. 621, was arrested on a bench warrant, burglary, default or breach of bail conditions, robbery and criminal trespass.
  • At 2:54 p.m., police reported the theft of a laptop from an unlocked car on Penhallow Street and Commercial Alley.
  • At 4:19 p.m., police reported a two-car accident on Porter and Middle streets without injury.
Tuesday:
  • At 8:35 a.m., police reported a theft from a vehicle on Woodlawn Circle.
  • At 10:04 a.m., police and U.S. Marshals arrested a Dover man on Wedgewood Road who was wanted as a fugitive from justice. Scott A. Sousa, 35, of 27 Sylvan Drive was wanted for theft by unauthorized taking, a bench warrant from Exeter District Court and violation of probation or parole.
  • At 10:13 a.m., police reported criminal mischief on Cabot Street where a car was keyed.
  • At 10:41 a.m., police arrested a Portsmouth woman for motor vehicle offenses following a single car accident on Lafayette Road and Mirona Road. Karen Degraffe, 57, of 15 Sewall Road was charged with conduct after an accident and driving after revocation or suspension.
  • At 3:27 p.m., police reported criminal mischief at Oriental Gardens after the caller said someone vandalized her vehicle.
  • At 4:08 p.m., police reported a theft of $320 of jeans from a Congress Street store committed by two male subjects.
  • At 4:43 p.m., police reported a theft of $600 in scratch lottery tickets from a store on Islington Street.
