City Man Found Guilty of Attempted Kidnapping

A city man who police say tried to kidnap a woman in the Ocean State Job Lot parking lot in December was found guilty of attempted kidnapping and criminal restraint on Friday afternoon.
The Union Leader reported that a Rockingham County Superior Court jury returned the guilty verdicts against James Perry, 37, in about one hour. The newspaper also reported the jury didn't agree with the assertion made by Perry's defense lawyers that the jacket Portsmouth Police found in the woods on the day of the crime could have been linked to another man.
Perry of 5 Weald Road in Portsmouth was arrested by Portsmouth Police on Jan. 18 following an investigation. He was charged with one count of armed robbery, a Class A felony, kidnapping, a Class A felony, reckless conduct, a Class B felony, and with being a felon in possession of a deadly weapon, a Class B felony.
