City Man Nabbed for Shoplifting
Portsmouth Police supplied the following arrest information.

The following is an excerpt from the Portsmouth Police log from Sunday, Nov. 4 through Monday, Nov. 5.
Sunday:
- At 11:21 a.m., police reported criminal mischief on Constitution Avenue after a caller said some hunters were on city property.
- At 2:02 p.m., police arrested a Portsmouth man for shoplifting on Congress Street. Luther John Campbell, 42, of 600 Lafayette Road in Portsmouth was charged with theft by unauthorized taking or transfer.
- At 4:29 p.m., police reported the theft of a cell phone from a car on International Drive after the window had been smashed to gain access.

- At 2:47 a.m., police reported an animal call on Elwyn Road and Grant Avenue after a New Castle man struck a deer.
- At 9:58 a.m., police reported criminal mischief on Sherburne Road at the Robert J. Lister Academy when a student punched out a plexi glass window and did some damage.
- At 3:50 p.m., police reported a burglary on Maplewood Avenue after the caller said her front door was smashed in.
- At 6:42 p.m., police reported a suicide attempt on Anne Avenue when a male subject went into a spare room with a loaded shotgun and threatened to kill himself. Police were able to prevent the male subject from doing himself or others any arm. He was taken into custody and transferred to Portsmouth Regional Hospital for treatment.
