City Residents Soak Up the Sun
January thaw delivers 60 degree day in downtown Portsmouth.
After enduring some pretty harsh New England winter weather the past few weeks, Portsmouth area residents were rewarded on Monday with a beautiful, warm sunny day that saw the mercury hit 60 degrees in Market Square.
In no time at all, people set aside their winter coats, hats and gloves and enjoyed walking around in light weight jackets and even T-shirts and shorts. Some people even enjoyed the weather by sitting outside at Breaking New Grounds' tables or eating lunch on downtown benches.
The National Weather Service is calling for a much colder, typical winter day on Tuesday with a high temperature of 38 degrees, which is why this unexpected warm and sunny day was appreciated so much by those who were able to get outside and enjoy it.
