City Woman Charged with Stabbing Husband Free on Bail

A Portsmouth woman who claimed she stabbed her husband twice in self-defense during an argument was arraigned on two first degree assault charges in Portsmouth Circuit Court on Monday.

was arrested on Feb. 12 after city police officers and firefighters responded to her home following a 911 call and found her downstairs and her husband upstairs with several stab wounds.

Walker told them the man she identified as her husband tried to stab her first before she stabbed him several times in the back. Walker also told police that she thought she might have killed him.

On Monday, Judge Sawato Gardner ordered that Walker remain free on $500 cash bail and $10,000 personal recognizance. She is scheduled to return to court on March 12 for a probable cause hearing at 8:30 a.m.
