Deer Street Jewelry Store Robbed Again

Portsmouth Police say the Chrisrial & Co. Jewelers store was robbed early Friday morning for the second time in two weeks.

Portsmouth Police were investigating a burglary at a Deer Street jewelry store on Friday morning that had been broken into just two weeks ago.

According to police, the Chrisrial & Co. Jewelers on Deer Street was robbed again early Friday morning after the perpetrators smashed the glass front door to gain entry, which was the same way the first burglary occurred on Feb. 7.

As of this morning, police did not provide any information on what items may have been taken in the second burglary or whether the store might have been robbed by the same suspect who broke into the store on Feb. 7. In that case, the burglar used a 30-pound dumbbell to break into the store and stole more than $20,000 worth of jewelry, according to Portsmouth Police Det. Lt. Michael Maloney.

Maloney said that police were looking at similar jewelry store robberies that had occurred in Massachusetts where the burglar also used a similar method to gain entry to see if they might be linked to the Portsmouth burglaries.

Portsmouth Patch will have much more information about this burglary as the information becomes available.
