Durham Lawyer, UNH Instructor Stabbed To Death In His Home Saturday
Alexander Talcott, 41, was found dead from a stab wound to the neck and the death has been classified as a homicide.
DURHAM, NH — The autopsy has been completed for the death of a man that occurred at a single-family residence at 98 Bennett Road Saturday.
Police responded to the address at 2:50 a.m. and found a man with a stab wound to the neck. Durham Fire and EMS did not transport the man after they determined he was deceased. The victim has been identified as Alexander Talcott, 41, who is one of two owners of the house according to Durham online tax records.
An autopsy was performed Sunday by New Hampshire Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Jennie V. Duval, who determined that Talcott died from a stab wound to the neck. She classified the manner of death as a homicide.

The New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office announced that its office, the State Police Major Crime Unit, and Durham police were identifying a suspicious death Saturday. Members of the unit could be seen bringing several items from the house, including bags typically used to gather evidence.
Durham police set up on Bennett Road outside of the crime scene tape that surrounded the large house, and two vehicles parked in the driveway. Investigators indicated Saturday that everyone involved had been identified and the public was not in danger.

Talcott has been listed as an adjunct instructor at the University of New Hampshire since 2018 and General Counsel and Director of New Constellation Capital since 2019, according to LinkedIn.
The investigation into Mr. Talcott’s death is ongoing and includes whether the person who stabbed Mr. Talcott acted in self-defense according to Michael Garrity Director of Communications
According to a story on WMUR posted exactly two years before the homicide, Talcott was a real estate finance attorney and GOP activist, said he was named New Hampshire leader of the Republican National Lawyers Association earlier this month. Talcott, according to online searches, had an office in Durham and Conway.
In recorded scanner traffic Durham Fire was requested to respond to 98 Bennett Road for a domestic, and asked to stage away and await police at 2:30 a.m. At 2:33, units were responding and advised there was a report of a male who was stabbed. At 2:35 a.m., they were advised police were not at the scene yet and there was a report of a male stabbed in the neck.
At 2:40 a.m., they were advised CPR was in progress. At 2:43 a.m. one medic was allowed into the residence, and the patient was declared deceased.
