Happy Valentine's Day; Ice Fest returns to Gas Light; some clouds and sun in the forecast.

1. Today's weather: The National Weather Service is calling for a mostly cloudy day that will become sunny later in the day with a high temperature of 41 degrees. On Thursday night, there will be increasing clouds with a low temperature around 30 degrees.

2. Valentine's Day is Thursday: Valentine's Day is Thursday, Feb. 14 and there are several Portsmouth businesses that have plenty of great gift ideas that will appeal to your significant other.

3. Parking and Traffic Safety Committee meeting: The Portsmouth Parking and Traffic Safety Committee will meet this morning at City Hall at 8 a.m. The agenda can be viewed on the city's website.

4. Father/Daughter Valentine's Dance: The Portsmouth Recreation Department's annual Father/Daughter Valentine's Day Dance will be held this Saturday, Feb. 16 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the new Connie Bean Center after last weekend's blizzard forced the event to be rescheduled. It costs $10 per couple and special corsages are given to the young ladies.

5. Ice Fest returns to Gas Light: Ice Fest kicks off three days of live music, great food, and fun activities at the Portsmouth Gas Light Co. to benefit Strawbery Banke Museum, the Seacoast Repertory Theatre and Pro Portsmouth. The event runs from Thursday, Feb. 14 through Saturday, Feb. 17.
