City Council meeting tonight; AARP to provide tax preparation help at the library; some rain and snow in the forecast.
1. Today's weather: The National Weather Service is calling for rain likely after 1 p.m. which will be followed by partly sunny skies and a high near 43 degrees. On Tuesday night, there will some rain then a chance of snow and sleet. Low around 29.
2. City Council meeting tonight: The Portsmouth City Council is scheduled to hold a work session and a regular meeting at City Hall on Tuesday night. The agenda can be viewed on the city's website.
3. Memorial Bridge Illumination campaign to get a boost: The Memorial Bridge Illumination Subcommittee is scheduled to receive a donation from Public Service of New Hampshire officials at Strawbery Banke Museum on Tuesday at 1 p.m. The group has to raise $200,000 to provide lighting for the new bridge.

4. Board of Adjustment meeting: The Portsmouth Board of Adjustment is scheduled to meet at City Hall on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. The agenda can be viewed on the city's website.
5. AARP to offer free tax assistance: The AARP will offer Portsmouth area residents free 2012 income tax return preparation assistance at the Portsmouth Public Library through Sunday, April 14. The service will offered from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Sundays. People should call 2-1-1 to make an appointment and walk-ins are also welcome.
