Five Things You Need to Know Today, Nov. 13

City Council meeting tonight; enter Portsmouth Patch Facebook photo contest; showers in the forecast.

1. Today's weather: The National Weather Service is calling for showers likely, mainly before 9 a.m. Areas of fog before 9 a.m. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 55. South wind 8 to 10 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. On Tuesday night, there will be Isolated showers before 11 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33. North wind 8 to 10 mph.

2. City Council meeting: The Portsmouth City Council will meet on Tuesday at City Hall at 7 p.m. The agenda is available on the city's web site.

3. Enter Facebook photo contest: Be sure to submit your photos for the Portsmouth Patch Facebook cover photo contest between now and 12 noon on Friday. Readers will then be able to comment on their favorite photos beginning on Nov. 19 through Nov. 23 and ultimately choose the best photo. The winner will receive a $50 gift card.

4. Restaurant Week continues: The Restaurant Week Portsmouth and the Seacooast continues until Nov. 17 and will feature several Portsmouth area restaurants that will offer great deals for lunch and dinner.

5. Portsmouth Holiday Parade deadline: The deadline for all floats on flatbeds and towed trailers that wish to participate in the Portsmouth Holiday Parade on Dec. 1. is Nov. 14. The deadline for groups that wish to walk in the parade as well as vehicles without trailers, bicycle units, bands, etc. is Nov. 19.
