Five Things You Need to Know Today, Nov. 7

Election results coming soon; NH Restaurant Week begins Wednesday; nor'easter with rain and snow in the forecast.

1. Today's weather: The National Weather Service is calling for a chance of showers, mainly after 3 p.m. Increasing clouds, with a high near 44. Breezy, with a north wind 10 to 20 mph. On Wednesday night, there will be rain before 11 p.m., then snow, possibly mixed with rain. Low around 34. Windy, with a north wind 25 to 30 mph, with gusts as high as 47 mph.

2. Election results: Portsmouth Patch will have complete election results from all of the big races so you can see how Portsmouth voted for President, governor, Congress, the NH House and Rockingham County races as soon as they become available.

3. MozCation 2012 meetup: Join Portsmouth area digital media professionals at the Music Hall on Wednesday night from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. for the MozCation 2012 meetup. Besides networking at this free event, there will be a host of speakers.

4. NH Restaurant Week: The New Hampshire Restaurant Week will begin on Wednesday, Nov. 8 and will feature several Portsmouth area restaurants that will offer great deals for lunch and dinner.

5. Portsmouth Holiday Parade deadline: The deadline for all floats on flatbeds and towed trailers that wish to participate in the Portsmouth Holiday Parade on Dec. 1. is Nov. 14. The deadline groups that wish to walk in the parade as well as vehicles without trailers, bicycle units, bands, etc. is Nov. 19.
