Five Things You Need to Know Today, Oct. 9

1. Today's weather: The National Weather Service is calling for a chance of showers, mainly after 7 a.m. Cloudy, with a high near 57. On Tuesday night, there will be a slight chance of showers. Cloudy, with a low around 47.

2. School Board meeting: The Portsmouth School Board is scheduled to meet at City Hall at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. The agenda can be viewed on the city's web site.

3. "Illuminate New Memorial Bridge": A group of Portsmouth and Kittery, Maine residents hope to raise $80,000 by Oct. 30 to provide the New Hampshire Department of Transportation with the funds needed to illuminate the new Memorial Bridge at night with energy efficient LED lights.

4. Visit the Pumpkin Patch: Throughout the month of October, the First United Methodist Church on Miller Avenue is selling pumpkins large and small along with home baked goods. The hours are Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
